January 2016 Meeting and New Officers

Happy New Year Everyone!

We have new officers taking over this month.  Narda Hipsher is our new President!  Celia Shanks is our new VP!  And Verilyn Smith is our new Secretary! 

We had 43 members in attendance for this months meeting.

Door Prizes:  We handed our 4 door prizes.
Membership Drawing:  Susan won fat quarters from this drawing.

Hospitality House Quilts:

Cindy Conrad is in charge of the Hospitality House Quilts this year and the theme is "Rainbow of Colors".

50% of the quilt is a color of the cancer ribbon of your choice.  See attached sheet below!!  You can choose any pattern and the size is 50" x 60" or standard 54" x 67".  These are not due this year until our September Meeting.  That should give everyone lots of time to complete one.  You will need to label your quilts with the following:

and your name if you want to add it.

I'm sure many of you know someone who has or has had cancer.  Please choose a color of your choice and make this quilt.  They are such a blessing to the patients that receive them.

The topic of judging the Hospitality House Quilts was brought back up and a motion was made by Lynn Stricker and second by Narda to start doing this again.  It will be viewers choice.

Round Robin:

There will be a round robin quilt started from either a medallion or a row for those who wish to participate.  Pizza boxes were handed out at the meeting.  We will trade out 3 times and the 4th time you will get to keep it.  Please put an icon on the box so that you know which one you started.  Only you will know what icon is yours.  The original person will get the medallion or row back that started it.  You can add fabric to coordinate.  The minimum size is 12".  Please see Narda for more info on this.

Rotary Blades - We have a place that we can bulk order rotary blades.  The prices are as follows:

10 each - 28mm - $9.99
10 each - 45mm - $14.79
10 each - 60mm - $23.99

Mystery Quilt:  

The mystery quilt this year will be a "Christmas Theme", it will be 37.5".  Stay tuned for more information on this!!

Queen of UFOs:

Terry Neidling was crowned Queen for 2015 of the UFOs.

UFO's - Unstarted or unfinished kits are being added this year.  If you have any questions please contact Pat Anderson.

Block Drawing:

Birds of a Feather - see attached photos for instructions.  Julie Niles is in charge of this.  This is due at the February 16th Meeting!!

Pin Money Sale: 

This will be at our April Meeting so pull anything that you think you will not use and set up a table and sell it.  Someone else might just love it!  10% of sales go to the Guild.
