Dear Ritzy Thimble Quilters,
Wow! Has this been an interesting time in history or what? We will never forget this year or the name of this virus that has kept us all home for a total of 40 days. Only essential workers and businesses have been open. A lot of our quilters and seamstresses have been making face masks and scrub caps in all forms, for nurses, family friends, etc. Elastic has been hard to find and us crafty ones work around that by making ties or using stretchy fabric from t-shirts or spandex. There is no stopping us makers and givers! I heard Dee can make 50 masks in a day and has made 500 to date! Colleen has made and has been giving away all of hers. No telling how many she has made. She even has had help from her husband.
YouTube has been blasted with a hundred different ways to make a mask and on and on it goes.
This is Tuesday, April 21st and the government is opening this country back up for business on May 1st. Its either because Covid-19/ Corona Virus is winding down or the politicians are worried our economy is breaking down. Both I would say. The big thing is hopefully the virus is winding down.
Before I started making masks I was working on a UFO from approx 4 years ago when we had Pat Speth's program. Not to mention the Presidents block from last year that I was so excited to finish. I have 14 more masks to make and then I'll be able to work on those. We will not have a May meeting because we want that extra precaution to keep everyone safe
When we get back in June, boy, are we going to have an awesome sew&tell! All our sewing machines have been smoking!
Well, I'm full of coffee this morning and I could write a lot more but want to keep it professional, lol! So I'll leave you with a pic of my soon to be finished UFO.
God love ya, be safe and healthy,
Narda Hipsher
