The February meeting featured a program titled “All About Applique”. Guild member Pat Niemann spoke about fusible applique, and fellow members Cindy Conrad and Karen Larabee presented on raw edge applique. Each provided an overview of the technique, useful tips, recommended tools and supplies, and additional resources for more information, as well as sharing several examples of their work. A highlight of the program was a presentation by Gwen Lloyd of Foothills Quilters, who is an expert in needle turn applique. Gwen also showed some of her spectacular quilts.
Sew-and-Tell, always a popular segment of the meeting, featured the diverse talents in our guild. Members displayed examples of their applique work and beautiful pieced quilts – large and small -- as well as bags and other quilted items. Several showed how they have incorporated finds from the monthly free table into their quilts.
