November 2017 Meeting


November 13, 2017 Ritzy Thimble Meeting Minutes
 

Celia called us to order a little after 6.

 

Attendance & Membership - Wanda Somers

Visitors - 2 were in attendance

Members - did not get a head count but looked like our usual #'s - around 45 or so.

Pillowcases for Children's Hospital - Lynda McLaren - Glynis Nappo filled in for Lynda tonight.

77 pillowcases were brought in tonight.

288 pillowcases total have been brought in.

Thanks to all who contributed to the Pillowcase Project for Children's Hospital this year.

 

2017 Christmas Challenge - Patty Ashworth
Please remember to make 2 paper pieced mug rugs to exchange for our Christmas Party in December. Mug Rugs can be made using coffee filters as the foundation or they can be rectangular. Any shape will work. Remember to make 2 and they should be wrapped together! Patty answered some questions for the group. Put your name on the package.

 

Child Advocacy - Linda Cole

Linda delivered quilts to the Child Advocacy group. They were very appreciative. Thank You Linda!

 

Bags for Beads of Courage - Lin Stricker, Sassy Foster and Pat Lakers

Kits are available and will be distributed in January. The bags are due in March.

Lone Pine Table Runner Class - Wanda Somers

Being taught for Guild by Anne Schulz in B Room at the Civic Center.  Should be a fun class!

Bionic Gear Bag - Narda discussed the possibility of having Sharon Clayton teach this class on Sat. 2/10/18. 

Sign-ups will start in December. More discussion to take place.

Mini Quilt Show for Greenfield Assisted Living in Oak Ridge - Narda Hipsher

Narda and Pat Anderson took quilts to Greenfield in Oak Ridge. The show was on Friday, November 3 and considered to be a BIG success! The show brought a lot of joy to the residents and we hope to do it again!

 

President's Block - Celia Shanks

Celia handed out a square of focus fabric with some instructions about what to do (and not do) for the 9 1/2" unfinished President's Block.  If you would like to make a block for Celia's quilt, please see her for the fabric and instructions.  Due in January or February 2018.

 

REMINDER
