October 16, 2017 Ritzy Thimble Meeting Minutes
Celia opened the meeting with a few announcements. We
were called to order around 6:10 pm. She brought in 3 refurbished
old, heavy sewing machines to offer the guild for free but mentioned that a
donation to our Ritzy Thimble Guild treasury would be appreciated! Two machines
found new homes!

Pillowcases for Children's Hospital - Lynda McLaren
Many pillowcases continue to be turned in. LOTS of
pillowcases were brought in tonight. Remember, pillowcases are due
in November!
2017 Christmas Challenge - Patty Ashworth
Please make 2 paper pieced mug rugs to exchange for our Christmas Party in December. Mug Rugs can be made using coffee filters as the foundation or they can be rectangular. Any shape will work...Remember to make 2, big enough for a mug and a couple of cookies, and they should be wrapped or in gift bags!

Child Advocacy - Linda Cole
Many blocks were turned in for the auction quilt for the
Child Advocacy Center. These blocks are due in January and will make a
beautiful quilt!
Linda was given 3 quilts from Karen Larabee. She showed
some really nice quilts during Sew n Tell that she will be
donating. Thank You Karen and Linda!
WORKSHOPS/CLASSES
Lone Pine Table Runner Class - Wanda Somers
Being taught for Guild by Anne Schulz in B Room at the
Civic Center. Should be a fun class!

for this class. Anne showed some beautiful table runners that will be
perfect for Christmas or what ever special occasion you would like to make one

Quilt Mini Show for Greenfield
Assisted Living in Oak Ridge - Narda Hipsher
Pat Anderson took the quilts that were brought in for the
quilt mini show at Greenfield in Oak Ridge. The show will be
on Friday, November 3. Please contact Narda if you have a quilt you
would like to loan for the show. This will bring a lot of joy to these elderly
residents.
President's Block - Celia Shanks
Celia handed out a square of focus fabric with some
instructions about what to do (and not do) for the 9-1/2" unfinished
President's Block. If you would like to make a block for Celia's quilt,
please see her for the fabric and instructions. Due in January or February
2018.
REMINDER
A motion has been made and passed to move our meeting date beginning in January 2018.

of every month at 6 pm.
Hopefully this will allow us to avoid having to move the
meeting date throughout the year!
